Benefits of Solid Wood
Eco-friendly, sustainable furnishings. Home Trends & Design offers compelling designs, often inspired by nature, crafted from environmentally friendly, sustainable practices and materials. A large part of our products are created from Mango wood, a fruit-bearing tree that grows naturally throughout humid, warm climates. Once no longer capable of bearing fruit, the trees are harvested and used for timber, the land replaced with new saplings to continue the cyclical process of renewing and harvesting. We are proud to be a founding member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, and help this re-planting each year to ensure the Earth's ecological balance. Hand-constructed, time-honored techniques. Our goal for every design is that it achieves an artistic balance of portion, scale and finish that accentuates the beauty of natural materials. Constructed by hand, we employ time-honored techniques such as mortis-and-tenon joinery, solid woods instead of veneers, floating tops and panels, as well as butterfly and dovetail joints... all creating a solid, durable piece that showcases the beauty of wood grain and other natural materials. Each piece is crafted completely by hand, enhancing the individual character of the item. The clarity of Home Trends & Design's unique, earth-friendly finishes further emphasizes the wood's natural beauty as grains and other natural features come uniquely alive.
Tomorrow’s heirlooms... today. Using solid hardwood to make furniture is a complicated process and requires expert knowledge of the materials and techniques.
